When is the right time to engage an Interior Designer?
TAKING ON A BUILD? STARTING A RENOVATION? OR SIMPLY BUYING A NEW HOME?
You’ve probably been wondering when you should be engaging an interior designer. It’s one of our most frequently asked questions at Mae + Co.
So we’re sharing our knowledge to help you decide when the timing is right for you.
In the early stages of the process, we know it can be daunting as you see the costs adding up. And this is where clients may choose to wait to work with interior designers; focusing more on the framework, before the finishing touches.
But in our experience? We’ve found the earlier we join the project, the better the outcome.
You might be surprised to learn it can actually help you save money in the long run. Plus, you can avoid the frustration of things not turning out exactly as you had pictured them initially.
Having a designer working alongside your builder and architect from the beginning ensures a multifaceted approach to creating your dream vision – and any issues can be ironed out early on to avoid costly mistakes.
For new builds and renovations, we recommend getting your interior designer involved throughout the planning process.
Once your preliminary architectural drawings are completed, your designer can review and provide recommendations for you, based on the look you’re aiming to create, the size of the space and your budget.
Even if you’re not rebuilding or renovating, there’s benefit to engaging your interior designer earlier than you might think.
This is because there are certain furniture items that can take anywhere from 1-6 months to arrive, dependent on lead times. Of course, we always do our best to find alternatives where possible - but why compromise on your ideal interior when you don’t have to?
While we’re always happy to join your project later in the process, it’s beneficial to get us onboard in the early stages. It’s the simplest way to ensure the final result is the home you’ve been dreaming of. With no compromise on quality, details and design.
So, if you’ve been debating getting us involved with your home makeover? Don’t wait.
